anti-productivity productivity.

Day 22 of 30 — Public Thoughts

You’ve seen the TikTok’s of the optimal desk setups right?

On the one hand…

Oh so satisfying to watch.

No cables in sight, RGB lighting, and a NASA-sized screen.

But the other hand…

Does the optimal setup ACTUALLY lead to more work being done?

That’s the goal at the end of the day right?

To be more productive?

That’s what sadly took me too long to realize…

Because I optimized EVERYTHING…

From my desk to morning routines to timeblocking my schedule to apps and note taking systems.

A constant pursuit of productivity.

Yet I would “optimize” something,

“Optimize” something else,

Oh wait now this new thing needs “optimization.”

And I spent a bunch of time, energy, and oh yes… money…

But not getting anything MORE done!

So here’s my anti-productivity hacks…

  1. Embrace the ugly desk
  2. Figure out the 3-5 things that matter each day and just do those (aka a powerlist)
  3. Work more. Tired? Coffee. Still tired? Take a walk. STILL tired? I don’t know… get over it?
